Day 2 - Vichy - Le Mont Dore
This day begins with the crossing of the bucolic roads of the Sioule valley which will lead you to the regional natural park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne. You will have the opportunity to contemplate the treasures of Romanesque art which abounds in this region as in Orcival or St Nectaire. You will stop to admire the medieval castle of Murol then you will reach the spa resort of Mont Dore at the foot of the Puy de Sancy mountain.
Day 3 - Le Mont Dore - St Flour
Rien de mieux qu’un col pour débuter la journée, il est d’ailleurs connu pour sa course de côte. Vous vous promènerez dans les ruelles du village de Besse en Chandesse puis roulez en direction du Sommet du Puy Mary pour contempler le paysage sur les chaines des puys. Ne manquer pas un arrêt au village de Salers, connu pour ses savoureux fromages.
Day 4 - St Flour - Estaing
Vous prendrez la route vers le plateau volcanique, désertique de l’Aubrac, traversé par le Chemin de Compostelle. Vous roulez sous le fameux viaduc de Garabit, connu grâce à Gustave Eiffel et contemplez les burons, fermes d’alpages qui jalonnent le paysage de l’Aubrac. Vous déjeunerez ensuite à Chaudes Aigues, célèbre pour ses stations thermales, vous reprendrez la route et longerez les gorges de la Truyère et ses barrages. Vous finirez cette journée en atteignant St geniez d'Olt sur les bords du Lot.
Day 5 - Estaing - Le Puy en Velay
Far away from main roads, the Auvergne region has many wonderful features that will seduce you. Riding here is an incredible pleasure thanks to a network of high quality, twisting roads and light traffic. Our route winds through the beautiful valleys and low mountains of the Regional Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne and through picturesque villages. Treat yourself to a spa in Vichy or Mont Dore; taste local specialties made from pork, potatoes and cheese; walk in the footsteps of the Compostela pilgrims who begin their journey in Le Puy en Velay; and visit the quaint villages of Salers, Estaing and Laguiole, nestled in deep green valleys and well-known for their knives, castles and hospitality.
